SnapSwap Launches Ripple Gateway, Accepts Direct Deposits from Any US Bank Account

SnapSwap has launched the first Ripple Gateway aimed at US clients.

New users who verify a US bank account with SnapSwap will receive 1000 XRP, free, from OpenCoin. Users can deposit directly from their verified US bank accounts.

At present, there are $355,000 in USD balances within the Ripple network, almost exclusively through the BitStamp Gateway. We will have to keep an eye on the network to see if SnapSwap can give them a run for their money (no pun intended)! Expect this to be one of many new Ripple Gateways to be launching in the coming weeks and months.

In related news, BitStamp announced that as of June 17th, they will no longer be providing BitStamp codes as a means of transferring BitStamp deposits between accounts. Instead, users will have to use Ripple exclusively.

Finally, an independent developer, Tony Gaitatzis, has released an open-source Ripple app for Android, which is available for download at the Google Play store. You can see a demo of the app in the video below:
